Meet Anthony, a 16-year-old student from Londonderry High School. He's had visual perceptional deficits his whole life. Not easy. Yet, Anthony's a determined person, a hard worker, and surrounded by people who love and care. He's learned how to compensate for his visual challenges both academically and socially/emotionally.
This doesn't mean he doesn't face a steep hill. He does. Anthony continues to have great difficulty integrating his gross motor skills/reflexes with his vision/visual skills. For this reason, he's held off from pursuing every 16 year old's right of passage: getting a driver's license.
Here's the good news. There is specialized drivers training now offered to students with Anthony's visual challenges. The particular training he needs will allow him to overcome his weaker visual perceptional areas to become a safe driver. Without it, he simply wouldn't be able to drive.
A lot of work will be needed from Anthony to develop these driving skills. He's got that part handled, we're sure. Also, the program ain't cheap so the KSF is handling that part. We believe in this kid a whole lot. He's awesome and has a great future ahead of him.
Anthony - you're an inspiration! Love your big smile and the hustle you bring to every challenge you face. We're so excited to have you a part of the KSF community. See you on the road soon!
